Whitmore’s Timber stock both standard African Blackwood spindle blanks and bell blocks.
African Blackwood gets its name from its distinctive dark black colour, however, it can often include some dark brown areas. Some pieces may also have noticeable areas of sapwood, which is a low-toned yellow. Straight-gained with a fairly even texture, African Blackwood can prove tricky to work with due to its heard and heavy nature.
These qualities mean it can be particularly tough for those relying on handtools, as its workability usually makes craft tools or machine cutters blunt. Despite this, African Blackwood is one of the most south after exotic hardwoods due to its bold colour and character.
As standard, our African Blackwood spindle blanks are 56mm x 56mm x 310mm, however, we can also provide custom spindles yo suit your personal requirements. For more information and prices, please contact our customer support team or complete a product enquiry form.
